Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

5 stars, neon pink outline on a black background

Travis’ time as a top baseball player has come to an abrupt end. He’s lost his purpose and is drowning his sorrows in a bottle. Until his best friend’s little sister, Georgie, barges in, throws food at him and gives him a good talking to. She wants that cocky grin back.

Georgie has always been in love with Travis but all he sees is his friend’s annoying little sister. No one else takes Georgie seriously either, which she leans into by being a professional clown. (She’s good at it, she’ll make you smile as well.)

I loved how Travis is the first person to notice how Georgie is dismissed by others. How he sees her facing similar problems to himself and has empathy. I love how Georgie always has Travis’ back and slowly the favour is returned. That scene at family dinner. Her fun and bravery. His passion and strength. Romantic gestures. To know someone and be known by them. To care about their feelings and want the best for them.

And as you can expect from a Tessa Bailey novel, Travis is a dominant dirty talker. That man is hot. The tension and chemistry. The hunger. The moment before a kiss. 🔥 After the first taste, they’re addicted.

I love how the female friendships in the book evolve as well. In terms of family relationships and male friendships, the dads and brother don’t come out of this book very well. I thought the brother should have got some sort of comeuppance for his behaviour but he didn’t.

Great narration too by Charlotte North.

Nothing springs to mind.
