Catherine travels across the country to meet a half sister she’s just discovered. When she arrives, she’s welcomed by her new family… except her new sister’s brother in law. Dean is suspicious and distrustful of Catherine, asking for background checks.
Having found his ex in bed with another guy, Dean doesn’t trust women at all, particularly those he bears a raw attraction to. This is all confusing for Catherine, who is very much aware of drop dead gorgeous Dean, but thinks he dislikes her.
I was expecting a steamy romance with a side of kink. But I found the characters awkward (I think it was supposed to be awkward) and unexciting. The role of Dean as an intimidating predator pursuing the innocent strait-laced woman didn’t really work for me. I wasn’t sure how it was supposed to be about her submission when he was blowing hot and cold himself. There needs to be more to it than a hot body and sex.
