I enjoyed this book because it’s clear why they like one another and enjoy the other’s company, and not just based on looks.
Although physical attraction plays a part too. The obstacle to their relationship means there’s a good build up of desire and anticipation – will they or won’t they? That leaves space for the intimacy to develop through other actions and conversations. Should they or shouldn’t they? Are they on course for heartbreak?
Nic is not only the hottest guy you’ve ever met, he’s also sweet and thoughtful and kind. And, given his profession, he’s really good at sex. I’d say he seemed too perfect if it wasn’t for ‘the big lie’ which sets up the story. Both characters lift up the other, which I absolutely love.

He makes loads of money and drives… a Tesla! To have the hottest guy ever driving electric. So not only is he thoughtful to Elle but to the planet too. This was so cool in 2019 when the book was written! Not sure how that will age in terms of the Tesla brand now Elon Musk is in politics 😂
