Violet and Eli were both smart and ultra competitive at school. 10 years later, Violet’s nemesis is back in town. And he’s grown up gorgeous! Despite their historical rivalry and a lot of bickering, Eli and Violet have chemistry. They are drawn together like magnets. So they decide to become ‘friends’ with benefits.
I like the main characters, their strengths, the weaknesses they perceive in themselves, the team at work, the sub plot relating to the random things that keep going wrong at their workplace. I like the indie brewery and the Loveless brothers, their mum, Violet’s best friend. I like that the workplace competition is acknowledged to be a stupid competition that will not enhance collaboration whatsoever, but is in the book anyway!
I love how they can’t resist eachother and get on so well when neither of them is talking ๐ Great plot!

Will it change the world?
The sexism and how it plays out is realistic. The small town seems so real too. An old mining town with a trailer park, but with beautiful countryside that the ultra rich like to visit for weddings. With a developer in the background trying to get rich quick off the family’s land without thought for the community.
I need to read book 2!
